anniversary of 20 years of successful marriage
We took advantage of this stay to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The location is very pretty, calm and romantic. The Angélique room is perhaps not up to 5-star standards. The reception and staff are warm but classy, and the services are up to scratch. The meal was fabulous, we asked not to see the menu so that we could be surprised with each course, and we also let them choose the wines served by the glass for each course. It was fabulous, the service, the quality of the products and the talent of the chef all combined to give us an excellent time. Wines are included in the package, but 7 euros for coffee and 8 euros for bottled water...you only find out when you leave! Breakfast is very good, all homemade, with a supplement of 4 euros if you want savoury. The visit to Chateau Lafoux went well, with a young man showing us the wines and explaining the blending of grape varieties... We went for a walk along the estate's paths, which was great fun. A bottle was offered, but we couldn't resist buying some... We also had an appointment the next day at 11 a.m. at the Maison des Vins, next door to the abbey. The wine tasting after breakfast was average, but the lady who welcomed us was really nice, and we had a great time. The abbey is free to visit. a magical interlude
