History of the Maison Brotte

Maison Brotte is a family business founded in 1931 in Châteauneuf-du-Pape by Mr. Charles Brotte, one of the pioneers of bottling wines from the Rhône Valley. Today, Laurent Brotte, grandson of the founder, runs the House, his wife and sons by his side.

Maison Brotte markets 2.6 million bottles a year under the Brotte and Père Anselme La Fiole signatures. Since 1952, La Fiole du Pape, developed under the Père Anselme brand, has been an original and exclusive bottle. It is today the most popular bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the world, which makes Maison Brotte the leader of its appellation.

In 1970, Maison Brotte inaugurated a Wine Museum, completely renovated in 2014. In 1991, the Maison acquired Château de Bord, a 32-hectare property on the A.O.C. Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun and Côtes du Rhône. Domaine Barville, a 23-hectare vineyard on the A.O.C. Châteauneuf-du-Pape, as well as the Domaine Grosset, a 22-hectare vineyard on the A.O.C. Côtes du Rhône Villages Cairanne, are two properties which also belong to the Brotte family, transmitted by their ascendants.

Travellers' review - Maison Brotte

  • At the foot of Mont Ventoux

After a few hours’ drive from our home in Franche-Comté, we arrived in the quiet village of Caderousse, not far from Mont Ventoux, nestled among the vineyards. We enjoyed a gift from our children (the first time we went to Alsace, which was also a wonderful experience!). First, we visited the Maison Brotte wine museum, tasted five wines, and left with a few bottles in the trunk to head to our lodging, the magnificent La Buissière country house—an elegant 18th-century residence, passionately renovated by our host and tastefully decorated with respect for its history. An art enthusiast, Pierre-François is also a skilled cook and treated us to delicious dishes that we had the pleasure of enjoying outdoors. We shared the table with Christelle and Jean-Luc, from the Hautes-Pyrénées, and that’s part of the charm and surprise of a bed-and-breakfast! This is a place we’ll treasure forever ? Thank you, Pierre-François, for your hospitality, the stories, and the delicious food! And of course, thank you to our children for this wonderful gift!

  • Perfect weekend

We spent an excellent weekend in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with vinotrip. Very interesting visit to the Ogier estate, with a young guide who was passionate about the subject and mastered it. Lunch at the verger des papes restaurant, where we were very well received and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We spent the night at the bastide de la Bussiere, where we were warmly welcomed by Pierre François, who treated us to a delicious dinner in his magnificent home. The next day, we visited the Maison Brotte and the wine museum, which was very interesting and included a tasting session. We recommend vinotrip and its service providers.

  • Very good stay

A very good meal at the restaurant le verger des papes, a very nice visit to the domaine Ogier with Jean, a great enthusiast, and a good tasting. The visit to the museum at Maison Brotte was very interesting and the discovery of numerous wines won us over. We had a wonderful stay at Honorine's guest house. A sumptuous meal, a very warm welcome, we'll treasure our memories.

  • CELLAR VISIT + STAY

My husband and I visited Maison Brotte with its magnificent museum, followed by a tasting of 5 Châteauneuf du Pape wines with Jean-Olivier. A great time of sharing!!!! Chambre d'hôtes at Irène Marie's in Caderousse with a great welcome and apricots picked the same day, in a magnificent house, full of charm, just like Irène-Marie. We spent a lovely evening on the terrace with the hostess, who is very attentive and attentive to her guests, accompanied by a very good and copious meal! And her mother, very pleasant! With great pleasure, we will return to spend an evening!!!
