History of Château Baudan

The origins of Château Baudan date back to the middle of the 19th century, when Pierre Sauts planted his first vines in the vineyard that would take the name of Baudan. Several generations of winegrowers have followed one another, and each brought their touch of evolution within the property.

Over the years, the purchases and planting of new plots have allowed the Château de Baudan to gain in size and notoriety. Now, the Blasquez family works daily to promote its wines.

The château has obtained the “Vignoble et Découvertes” label, is also part of the network of independent winegrowers and is now certified High Environmental Value.

Travellers' review - Château Baudan

  • Excellent visit

Discovery of 3 châteaux Le Taillant / Baudan/ Desmiraille. 3 complementary visits. Warm and friendly welcome. Beautiful discovery, transmission of their passion, their know-how, and the history of their châteaux and the families who prosper their name. Thank you for the blind wine tasting at Château Baudan, a wonderful discovery. Well-organized, with one small downside: we regretted the lack of time between Château le Taillant and Baudan to visit and tour the historic Château le Taillant. Perhaps 1 château in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Lunch at Le Savoie was perfect, a top-quality gourmet restaurant. We had a great time in the sunshine.

  • Top day!

Thank you Vinotrip for a superb day discovering the Médoc. Three complementary visits to different estates where we were very well received. Our guides gave us excellent explanations of the work they have done or are doing in their vineyards. Special mention for the blind tasting at Château Baudan. Superb underground cellars at Château du Taillan. And a fine discovery of a Margaux grand cru classé at Château Desmirail. We also had a particularly good lunch at Le Savoie restaurant.

  • LE TAILLAN/BAUDAN/DESMIRAIL/MARQUIS DE TERME

A beautiful day. The first tasting at around 10am was accompanied by walnuts; a small piece of bread for the others would have been welcome. The 3 visits complemented each other, and I particularly enjoyed the visit to Chateau Baudan by one of the owners, a winemaker, as well as the blind tasting presented in the form of a game. The restaurant was very good, despite the lack of choice on the menu. Would recommend.

  • Wines from Château Baudan

Château Baudan produces a red wine whose key words are aromatic complexity and elegance. Created according to the Médoc tradition, the estate highlights the Listrac appellation whose "terroir" deserves to be better known.

The 30-year-old vines offer an elegant, fine and generous wine. The blend, which forms a tannic and fruity whole, is made up of Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot, typical grape varieties of the Médoc. Produced in stainless steel vats and aged in oak barrels, all the flavors of the Médoc will be present.

  • Wine tourism in Médoc

Château Baudan plays the card of renovation and expansion in order to promote wine tourism, and to make its wines known to an audience of amateurs.

Push the door of this castle, and browse its vats and barrel cellar from the beginning of the 20th century during a tour and tasting. Atypical and historic place, the charm prevails over this estate managed with passion by the Blasquez family.
