History of Château du Taillan

Henri Cruse bought the seventeenth century “Château du Taillan” in 1896. The property has been transmitted from generation to generation until now: the 5 Cruse sisters are nowadays the owners.

Its classical style makes this property one of the most beautiful in Gironde, with unique underground cellar listed on the Historical Momuments of France

  • Top day!

Thank you Vinotrip for a superb day discovering the Médoc. Three complementary visits to different estates where we were very well received. Our guides gave us excellent explanations of the work they have done or are doing in their vineyards. Special mention for the blind tasting at Château Baudan. Superb underground cellars at Château du Taillan. And a fine discovery of a Margaux grand cru classé at Château Desmirail. We also had a particularly good lunch at Le Savoie restaurant.

  • Very pleasant day

The visits to the 3 châteaux were very interesting, led by real professionals (and yes, all women). Just 2 points: the timing was a little tight between Château du Taillan and Château Bedan, and the waitress and head waiter at the Marquis de Terme restaurant weren't very pleasant.

  • VERY PLEASANT STAY!

Our stay began with a visit to the Château du Taillan, followed by a wonderful tasting of 5 different wines. The guide, Ludivine, was very friendly and knew all the anecdotes about the place inside out. We had lunch at the Savoie restaurant in Margaux. The food was excellent. For the remainder of our stay, we had a second visit to Château du Payre, where we also slept. Interesting visit, a few approximations and a 1h30 wait before starting the tour. The owner was very friendly, but probably too busy with this activity. All this in no way detracted from the quality of the room and the excellent table d'hôtes dinner! The next day we had a third and final visit to Château de la Croizille, where we enjoyed an incredible tour and tasting led by Laura, a very knowledgeable guide despite her young age! We literally drank in her words. I highly recommend Vinotrip!

  • Visit to Saint Ahon castle

We started with a visit to the Château du Taillan. Super interesting: warm welcome, tour and pleasant hostess. We finished with Château Desmirail. This really is a must. An enthusiastic, charismatic guide and magnificent surroundings.

  • September 4 and 5, 2021

4 estates, 4 different visits We started with Château de Ferrand: a blending workshop and a fine tasting, with a guide who was a little full of himself! The visit to the next estate, Château Tour St Christophe, was fairly quick, with a guide who had some difficulty speaking French, but was nevertheless friendly. The 3rd visit to Château du Payre, with dinner and overnight stay, lived up to our expectations, with good wines and a warm welcome (family-run estate). Our last visit to Château du Taillan was by far the richest and most instructive: our guide loves his job and shares it fully. A small downside for Sunday lunch: Brasserie du Golf (good welcome and good food) instead of Restaurant Le Savoie in Margaux (gastronomic with a very fine menu).

  • trip to the Médoc

Nice day, and I'll put a note on it. At Château du Taillan, tasting wines at 10:30 a.m. without accompaniment is not very professional. The visit to the cooperage was magnificent and extraordinary, with someone on hand to give us detailed explanations. The meal was correct. The visit to the grounds of the Château de St-Ahon is pleasant, but more suitable for children. The store offers a variety of products at reasonable prices. A very pleasant day.

  • DAY IN THE MEDOC

It was a lovely day, but I'd like to qualify it on one point. At Château du Taillan, wine tasting at 10:30 a.m. with no accompaniment, cakes or anything else, isn't great. The visit to the cooperage was extraordinary, with a guide who listened to us and gave detailed explanations. The meal was good, but nothing more. The visit to the park of the Château de ST AHON is pleasant, but more suitable for a couple with children, as it's very playful. The boutique offers a variety of products at very reasonable prices. All in all, a pleasant day.

  • 3 visits to the Médoc

Very interesting visit to Château du Taillant and the cooperage. Fine lunch. On the other hand, the afternoon visit to the gardens of Château de St-Ahon is of little interest to adults and would be better suited to families with school-age children.

  • birthday gift

two very enjoyable days, especially at Château du Taillan and Château de Camarsac. We learned a great deal from the competent and friendly guides. The assembly workshop was a great success

Instructive tour of the Château de St Ahon, including a tasting session. Côté Jardin: ordinary cuisine. Melle Margaux chocolate factory: we were a little disappointed because we thought we would have seen how the chocolates were made. Château du Taillan very good report on wine making, very interesting with tasting. . Château Giscours guest room impeccable and very good breakfast. We were very well looked after throughout the tour, although the time between each activity was a little short. I recommend this stay for wine and chocolate lovers.

  • 3 Visits to the Médoc

Le Château du Taillan: Very good, very warm welcome and very well commented visit, interesting tasting. La Tonnellerie: Very interesting and well commented visit. Very good lunch. Château St Ahon: We thought we were visiting a vineyard, but it was just the gardens of the château. After handing in the quiz, we tasted the estate wine, which was very good. Chambre d'hôte. Very warm welcome, very comfortable room, quiet, very copious breakfast. Mr and Mrs Jeantet are charming people. I recommend this bed and breakfast.

  • beautiful discoveries

Château du Taillan: very good. Good welcome, nice guided tour, interesting tasting. Cooperage: very, very interesting, even impressive guided tour! Very warm welcome. Perfect lunch. However, the visit to Château St Ahon was very disappointing. You are given a quiz at the entrance, followed by a treasure hunt. The tasting at the end of the game was very succinct... after the copies were handed in!

  • Discover the Médoc

Hello A great day out for our group, where friendliness, conviviality and tasting rhymed with information. We really enjoyed the visit to the cooperage, which was very instructive. Château du Taillan has a magnificent cellar and the 2 people doing the tastings at the châteaux love their job and shared it with us. On the other hand, we didn't enjoy the tour of Chateau Saint Ahon. The park didn't give us a good impression. As for the '1902' restaurant, there's absolutely nothing to say! Very pleasant setting, warm, smiling welcome, beautifully presented and well-cooked dishes .... In short, we thoroughly enjoyed the '1902'.

  • Château du Taillan's wines

The 30-hectare vineyard produces a Cru Bourgeois. It is also one of the few estates in Medoc to make an excellent white-wine 100% sauvignon “La Dame Blanche”.

  • Wine activities at the Castle

The Cruses decided to push forward wine tourism in the Medoc region. Among the activities at the property, one can choose a wine warehouses tour, a cellar tour as well as wine-tasting sessions and oenological workshops.
