History of the Camarsac Chateau

Ideally located between Saint Emilion and Bordeaux, the oldest part of the chateau “of the Black Prince” was built at the beginning of the 14thcentury by a nephew of the then Pope Clement V. In 2007, Thierry Lurton took over the reins, making it a point to bring together history, man and nature.

Accommodation on the estate is provided as a small inn, the Clos du Prince, located about 15km east of Bordeaux. The charming 18th century house is accessed by a small route that snakes through green meadows, home to a number of horses. The establishment takes pride in its warm sophisticated interior. 6 rooms are available for guests, each with a spectacular view of the estate, private baths and free Wi-Fi access. 2 cottages, each with 3 double rooms, are also available for rent on the estate. The Clos du Prince has its own private outdoor pool.

Travellers' review - Château de Camarsac

  • VINOTRIP Stay

Very good stay, pleasant memories. Visits and tastings at Chateaux Taillan, Camarsac (with assamblage workshop), Seguin, La Croizille, great. Chambre d'Hote Chateau de Seguin, good. Restaurant Le Savoie, no reservations, average welcome. Restaurant Chez Titut, good welcome and good food (recommend). A small problem was the distance between Le Savoie and Chateau de Camarsac in the early afternoon with the traffic on the Bordeaux bypass (to be reviewed). Thanks to the VINOTRIP team for the organization.

  • Very nice stay

Well-organized stay with Vinotrip. The visits and tastings at Châteaux du Taillan, La Croizille and Seguin were great. We enjoyed the assembly workshop at Château de Camarsac. The restaurants we booked were top-notch (Le Savoie in Margaux and Chez Titut in Créon). We stayed in a B&B at Château Seguin. The room was great, nothing to complain about. The downside was that the breakfast was not up to the standard you'd expect from a bed and breakfast, especially given the location.

  • VERY NICE STAY

Super welcome at Château de Môle, visit, tasting, room and breakfast, everything was perfect. The visit and assembly workshop at Château de Camarsac (a little way from St Emilion), was very good, very interesting, with a warm welcome. Very nice welcome at the restaurant l'Envers du Décor, very good menu, and excellent gourmet dinner at Clos Mirande. Stay to be recommended.

Very nice stay in Camarsac with an excellent welcome at the Château de Camarsac bed and breakfast and at the magnificent Château, with its guided tour. I highly recommend this gift.

  • July 9 and 10, 2020

Two memorable days, full of encounters. Excellent welcome at the 4 châteaux. The immense pleasure of blending the wine bottled at Château de Camarsac. The two restaurants, Savoie in Margaux and La Table in Créon, were excellent, not to mention the overnight stay at Clos du Prince, a calm and relaxing place... We highly recommend this stay.

  • stay in bordeaux

A very warm welcome at the three chateaux we visited at the end of March, particularly at Chateau de Camarsac. We have excellent memories of this estate and of our participation in the blending discovery.

  • Very nice stay

We had a very pleasant stay, visiting 3 different castles and learning a lot. The guides were pleasant and friendly, and very knowledgeable. Meals at the Gare Gourmande and the Table de Créon were fine and very good (a little light at the Gare Gourmande, the main course lacked starch). The night at Clos du Prince was perfect (air-conditioned room). We took part in the varietal and blending workshop, and loved it! It's great to be able to take home a bottle of wine and assemble it ourselves! The only downside to the 2 days was that the châteaux were far apart, so we had to drive a long way. What's more, we bought some wine from the Desmirail estate, which we paid more for than the same bottle seen on sale at Château de Camarsac!

  • A very good weekend

All in all, a very pleasant experience. The only downside was Château Desmirail, where the young guide was not very efficient and the welcome was rather distant. The rest is wonderful: Gare Gourmande: TOP, Château de Camarsac: TOP.

  • Very nice weekend

We spent a very pleasant weekend at Château de Camarsac and then at Clos du Prince. The only downside was that we weren't expected to visit the estate. At no time were we asked for our reservation or our identity. But otherwise, the tasting was excellent, the tour was informative and we were able to wander through the autumn-yellowed vines. The overnight stay at Clos du Prince was excellent, the owner was very welcoming and the home-cooked breakfast was very good. A very friendly weekend.

  • Château de Camarsac - Highly recommended

Very interesting visit to Camarsac's château and wine cellars in a magnificent setting, and enjoyable wine tasting. Delicious dinner in a warm atmosphere, comfortable overnight stay. Magical discovery of Saint Emilion the next day. A stay we highly recommend.

  • Very pleasant stay and warm welcome

From the very first phone call, I was very pleasantly advised. Our stay took place at the end of October, and we were lucky enough to be able to discover the area on our own. We started at Château Desmirail, where we visited the winery and received a great explanation of all the stages involved in vinification and maturation, then had the pleasure of tasting the estate's wines. We then ate in Margaux, where the meal was very good and the welcome just as good. We then headed for Château de la Tour de Bessan, where we discovered a modern estate. The person who gave us the tour then taught us how to taste a wine and, above all, we were made aware of blending, a wonderful discovery. In the evening, we dined and slept at Clos du Prince, a wonderful place with a warm welcome. Finally, the next day, we discovered the Château de Camarsac, where we were again warmly welcomed. The person in charge showed us around the vineyard and the work in the vines, and then we had a historical tour of the château with all its twists and turns. These 2 days were marvelous, rich in discoveries, the meals were all excellent, and above all we were received like "princes" everywhere. However, as we didn't have a GPS, it was difficult to find Château la Tour de Bessan and Clos du Prince. Either a better road sign, or an indication in the travel documents would be a plus. Thank you for the wonderful stay you planned for us.

  • Camarsac wines

The vineyards are scattered throughout a patchwork of 5 districts: Camarsac, Loupes, Saint Aubin de Branne, Cabara and Sainte-Terre. The diversity of the vineyards is reflected in the variety of the wines produced: a Bordeaux white, an Entre-Deux-Mers, a Rosé, a Clairet and 3 different types of red.

  • Wine activities at the property

Natacha will accompany you on a visit of the chateau, the grounds and the cellars before guiding you through a tasting session of all the wines produced on the estate. Meals and accommodation are available at the Clos du Prince Inn and restaurant, located on the Camarsac estate.
