History and Wines of the Château Lynch Bages

The field of Lynch-Bages,located in the Medoc, near the town of Pauillac, has a particularly revealing the name of its history.
Indeed, the term "Bages" means the hamlet sheltering from the 16th century generations of winemakers; as to that of "Lynch", it specifies the name of the owners from 1749 The estate was sold in 1824 to Sebastian Jurine, a wine merchant in Geneva, and is under the management of his son André-Louis, through that will access it under Fifth Classified Growth in 1855, established by Napoleon III. After many purchases, redemptions and negotiations, the property is now managed by the Cazes family.
The vineyard covers one hundred hectares. From 1934, Jean-Charles Cazes innovates, and says "Lynch-Bages" style. The requirement and quality have always been and remains the watchwords of this area highligfhting its philosophy of “lifestyle wine”.
Château Lynch-Bages opens its doors to visitors for wine discoveries, gastronomic, cultural and historical. In 2010, the higher Council of Tourism awarded to the Cazes Family of Honor Award “Pioneer wine” and in January 2011, the Revue des Vins de France designates as ”Best Home in the vineyard 2010”.

Travellers' review - Château Lynch-Bages

  • Beautiful stay in Haut Médoc

Staying at the château "Ormes de Pez", we were made very welcome by the estate steward. The cold evening meal was more than copious and of excellent quality. The room was as large and bright as you'd expect. The next day's tasting at Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, preceded by a tour of the estate and winery, was masterfully conducted by an exceptional young guide. The ensuing meal at Café Lavinal was of the highest quality. Our second tasting at Château Lilian-Ladouys in St-Estèphe was also of very high quality, with a competent and friendly guide. We were delighted with this stay, which had been offered to us. We highly recommend it.

  • Oenology course at Château Lynch-Bages

Very warm welcome, small group workshop which is much nicer. Visit to the current and old wineries with very detailed explanations. The introduction to wine tasting was more than interesting, with visual, olfactory and gustatory appreciations, all led by a dynamic, friendly and very professional person.

  • Very well organized stay

Perfect welcome at the Hotel Rollan de By. Wine blending workshop at Château Lynch-Bages: super interesting. Meal at "Le Saint Seurin" restaurant worthy of a great chef! The only downside was a less-than-friendly welcome at Café Lavinal, and an average meal.
